LOVELETTER

It takes skill to write the perfect love letter. Oh sure, anyone can write a love letter, but to really master the craft takes years of practice, and even then there’s no guarantee you can master it. You may think you’re good at it, but the words always sound better in your head than they do in her ears.

If your love letter begins with the words “hey” you’re doing it wrong. If it ends with “…cause you’ve been runin’ through my mind all day!” you’re most definitely doing it wrong.

Take some cues from the Master.

You have to start with an opening
that grabs the attention:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 1:1-5, 14, 18

You have to have a middle
that tugs at the heart strings:

And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.  Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man! When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.  Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.  But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

John 19:2-6, 30-34

You have to have an ending
that just makes you want your loved one to hurry up and sweep you off your feet:

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

John 14:1-3

You have in your possession a book that is much more than a love letter. It is a law book, a history book, a poetry book and a prophesy book. But woven throughout the pages of your Bible is a message of love, from the One sent from Heaven to earth, Who bore the cross and died for us, and has promised to come back and take us home with Him some day.

Aren’t you in love with Jesus? How could you not be with what He’s written you?

Have a great day!
