Infamous former-Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura, a rabid anti-God atheist, once derided believers in Jesus as “weak people who need a crutch to get by.”

I rarely agree with the man, but I have to admit, that comparison is spot on.

I am a weak person. On my own I have no strength or power to survive the hardships of this world. On my own I will surely fall for the first temptation that comes my way. On my own I can not remove the sins that stain my soul. On my own I am doomed to an eternity to Hell. I need a support; I need someone to pick me up. I need a crutch.

And I’m not ashamed to admit it.

My Master says:

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

John 15:5

Amen.
