While studying Revelation I came upon a small statement that we might easily overlook.

It seems like nothing but actually it gives one more reason why God is so special…

Rev 4:9  And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

Now this is just one little part of a larger segment of Revelation. The setting is the throne room of God and all of His faithful creation is singing praises to Him. The thing that jumps out at me is the way John describes God. He calls Him the One who “lives for ever and ever.”

That’s not a phrase we’re unfamiliar with, but have you ever considered what it means?

The angels were praising God. They were created, in part, to praise the Lord. They are created, which means they had a beginning. They are eternal too, which means they have no ending. They will live forever but that doesn’t make them God. God is eternal in a much more amazing wau. God has no ending and no beginning. He has ever been and forever shall be.

Praise be to Him that is forever (no end) and ever (no beginning!
