My Master offers a beautiful illustration to the Christians of Laodicea. They were guilty of not having the kind of zeal that Christ demands of His followers. After rebuking them, He offers them an invitation…

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Revelation 3:19-21

Christian, how excited are you to be a Christian? How motivated are you in knowing that you possess the truth of God? It should light a fire under us and propel us to faithful service.

If, for whatever reason, we have lost that spark, then Christ implores us to reignite it. In fact he stands outside our doors knocking and begging us to let Him back in.

Did you catch that? Christ equates an unmotivated Christian life with shutting Him out completely! He’s on the outside, looking in, desiring to be in the same room with us once more.

Don’t shut Him out!
