argumetn If the picture to the left is stumping you, let me tell you both arguers are wrong. There’s not “three” or “four” objects there; there’s only one. Look carefully and you’ll see it.

If only arguments could be treated like math. Now, personally, I despised math when I was in school. They told me it was important and I told them I’d never use it.

I was right.

But the thing about math as opposed to art is, art is designed to be interpreted. Math is just science. You have two apples and you add another apple to the pile and now you have three apples.

It’s not up for debate. Your opinion is irrelevant. 2+2=4. Every day of the week.

People need to stop reading the Bible like it’s the Mona Lisa. It’s not a work of art. It’s a work of inspiration.

It’s not subject to interpretation.

When two people disagree about a fact there are only three possibilities. Either:

Person-A is wrong
Person-B is wrong
Both are wrong.

That’s it. They can’t both be right and hold to different ideas about a fact.

I mean, the very idea is wrong headed to begin with. A “fact,” by virtue of the name, is automatically right. That’s why it’s called a fact.

My job is not to have an opinion about a fact. What does it matter. So what if I “agree” with the fact; why shouldn’t I? It’s a fact. Why does it matter if I “disagree” with a fact? It’s a fact. It’s right, whether I like it or not.

Facts don’t change.

So either I am “team fact” or I am wrong. And though we live in a world where “subjectivity” is a little too popular (“there is no ‘real’ right and wrong here…” the hippy teachers say), the “fact” is “facts” exist. Certain things are just right, and therefore things contrary to those things are “wrong.”

If two people disagree about a Bible verse or meaning, there are only three possibilities. Either:

Person-A is wrong
Person-B is wrong
Both are wrong.

That’s it. They can’t both be right and hold to different ideas about the Bible.

So the next time someone says something you don’t agree with concerning the Bible, remember that it’s not your place to agree or disagree. It’s your place to do what the Bible says.

The Bible is what is right, not us. Even when we teach what the Bible says, we only teach it because the Bible is right. We don’t have to “agree” with the Bible. It’s not up to us to agree or disagree with it. It’s the Bible; it’s always right.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 119:105

We just have to be humble enough to recognize when we’re not right, and then do what the Bible says.

Think about it,
have a great day!
