(June 5th) Do your best and give the rest

It’s very easy to stress out over mistakes that we have made.

We can stand there, in the kitchen, staring at the broken jar of pickles, with the green juice all over the floor and the poor little cucumbers scatted like a scene from some horrible war movie…we can stand there, mouth agape’d and in shock, cursing ourselves for having butterfingers.

Or…we can let it go.

Even worse than stressing out over “made” mistakes is when we stress out over “potentially making” mistakes. These are the things we worry about, when we think about what “could” happen, or what “may” happen, or what “might” happen. We get ourselves all worked up thinking about tomorrow, or next week, or next month, and we forget that we could die tonight and none of that ever matter.

We can worry all we want, or…we can let it go.

Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.
1 Peter 5:7

You know what that verse says? It says do your best.

Well what about when I do my best and I still make a mistake? In that case you have someone ready to take that mistake off your shoulders. Cast your “cares” (your problems) to Him, because He “cares” (wants to nurture and console) for you.

Do your best….and give the rest (to God).
