So I’m 31 years old. Later this year I’ll turn 32. In a lot of ways my 30’s are not much different than my 20’s.

The big changes in my life happened between the ages of 0-10 years old. I learned to walk, learned to talk, learned to reason, etc.

Then from 10-20 years old a lot more big changes happened. I learned to be independent, and to take care of myself, then said nuts to that and went and got married.

From the age of 20 to the age of 30 not a lot happened to me, except that everything slowed down. The years went by more quickly, but my body seemed a be a step slower than it was in the previous decade.

I wonder what changes will happened to my body as I age from 30 years old to 40. I imagine the changes will continue to be subtle, like they were throughout my 20’s. I will continue to get a little greyer, and walk a little slower.

If the Lord wills I will continue to age until I start adding the phrase “ripe old age of” before I tell how old I am. Once I get to that point I will be a much different man than the one I am right now.

None of that matters though, because one day I will leave this world. Whether it comes in my 30’s or in my 60’s or in my 90’s or any age in between, I will one day exit stage left and bid this world goodbye. What will become of me then?

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

1 John 3:2

According to John, when I leave this world I will be changed. My body will transform from a body built to live on earth to a body that will be built to live in Heaven with God.

And that body won’t be changing every year. That body will be fresh and new forever more.

That’s a comforting thought, if you ask me.
