So Clemson lost the national championship game.

They were #1 and undefeated going into the game but they were bested by the 1-loss #2 Alabama team. They lost by less than a touchdown and at times looked totally in control before the game got away from them.

But it happens. You can’t win them all.

How we deal with a loss is equally as important as how we deal with a win. Do we attack our victorious opponent? Do we hang our heads and give up? Do you decide we need to cut corners and cheat the next time?

Football is just a game but life is not, and like with games we also have wins and losses in life. We have times when things go our way and times when things do not. How we handle it when adversity hits us is very important. Solomon said that if you give up at your first set back you’re not much of a person (Proverbs 24:10). James said that we should see our obstacles as opportunities to grow in patience (James 1:2-3).

We may have adversity and set backs but as long as we don’t let our defeats defeat us we will win in the end.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Psalm 34:19

We may sometimes lose a battle, but we should pick our heads up and get ready because another battle is coming. We haven’t lost the next one yet. If God be willing, we may prevail!
