I’m watching the election returns as I write this and right now, with 75% of the vote tabulated it looks like Ted Cruz will win the Iowa election on the GOP side, while Hillary Clinton looks like she will win on the Democrat side.

I don’t know how you feel about politics. Some people are put off by it entirely, others are hardcore followers. To each his own. But what I will say is God is a God who rules over the kingdoms of men (Daniel 4:17). That doesn’t mean we will always have godly leaders. It means we’ll get the leaders we deserve sometimes, and sometimes that’s good and sometimes that’s bad.

How do you square that with the USA where we get to vote on our leaders. I square it this way: God rules, man votes, and God breaks the tie because God’s Will will be done. I have been praying very hard about who our next president will be (and not be!). I would encourage you to do the same. Even if you don’t feel compelled to participate in the political process (that’s your right as an American), I hope you will pray that God bring us a leader that is closest to our godly values (that’s your privilege as a Christian).

Either way, always remember that God is in control, and that this country/world is not our home.

God bless the King of Kings!
