pah-rum-pa-pum-pum

That is the cadence of the drum…the war drum to be specific. It beats in the forefront of an army, leading them toward battle–leading them toward victory.

My Lord has an army, and onward it marches. It’s armor is worn tight and it’s swords and shields held aloft (Ephesians 6:10-17). The drummers drum and bang the cadence of the march as we press on toward the mark (Philippians 3:14). We head to battle, but victory is already assured. We fight gallantly and bravely, though our enemy is already defeated.

Our victory is over death, our conquered enemy is sin. Through Christ we have triumph. In Christ we have won.

Soon, the drummers’ drumming will no longer be a call to battle; instead it will be a proclamation of Heavenly success as we march onto gold-paved streets.
