For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

1 Peter 2:15

It should not be the goal of God’s people to stir up trouble. You won’t find that anywhere in the New Testament. We are not called to be rabble-rousers or protesters, or megaphone wielding grievance-shouters.

We are to be at peace with all men, wherever possible. The church is not a political faction and should not be used as a political force. We are not of this world.

God’s Will for us is that we live in such a way to silence those who are looking for reasons to harm us. We have enemies who think that the church is a force to be reckoned with, when in fact our credo in life is to turn the other cheek, go the extra mile and even give the shirts off our backs when we are compelled to give up our coats.

But as long as brethren keep trying to make the church an instrument for political action we will continue to encourage our enemies against us. Our aim should be the salvation of men’s souls and the glorification of God above. We should be trying to SILENCE the ignorance of foolish men, not stoke the flames.
