memorial dayAs this holiday winds down, many around the country are sitting around enjoying the company of friends and family. It’s a cliche to say “don’t forget what this holiday is about; it’s not just a three-day weekend” but it needs to be said every now and then.

This really isn’t about a three-day weekend. It’s an opportunity for us as a county to be respectful and mindful of those who died fighting for their homeland.

Some of them were drafted, who didn’t want to fight.
Others enlisted and served, feeling it was right.

Of those we recall today, we recall the ones who died.
Who gave their lives for “freedom’s sake” and who fell by the wayside.

The Bible teaches us to honor those who deserve honor (Romans 13:7).

Do that today.
