Random thought:

If you’re one of those folks who groans when Sunday morning comes around, or who has every excuse under the sun to give as to why Sunday night is “optional” and Wednesday night is “unnecessary;” if you’re one of those sourpusses who sits there and doesn’t sing while the rest of us belt out our favorite hymns, or audibly sighs when the prayer runs too long, or checks his watch every 5 minutes during the sermon…

You would HATE Heaven.

I used to say something like that and then end it with “You’re gonna hate Heaven” but that wouldn’t be very accurate. I don’t see how someone who despises worshiping God can possibly MAKE IT to Heaven. And quite frankly I don’t know why they’d want to go.

If they love the world so much they hate to be pried away from it for a few hours a week, then why would they want to escape this world and rest in the bosom of the Lord, where all you DO is sing and praise and worship the Lord?

If you loathe the company of God’s Word so much that you never crack a Bible open and day dream during the sermons from it, then why would you WANT to live in the eternal forever land where you’re in the literal presence of God Himself and the Word incarnate?

How selfish can a person get to desire all the blessings of Heaven while simultaneously rejecting the lifestyle that goes with it. You want to go to Heaven because you don’t want to go to Hell. That’s a fine enough motivation, I suppose, but no one ever changed their life on a negative motivation. There has to be a positive force compelling us. If you really want to go to Heaven you have to be proactive about it. You have to ACT like you do.

Chew on that…and I’ll see you Wednesday night, Lord Willing!
