Remember when God told Pharaoh (via Moses) to let the people go? Why did God want Israel free? Was it just because being a slave is bad and God doesn’t want us enslaved?

No.

God said “let my people go so that they can come and worship me on the mountain” (Exodus 9:1).

In other words, God wanted His people freed so they would be free to serve Him.

When we say “Jesus died to save me” we cut the point of Jesus’ death in half. Yes He died to save us, but save us for WHAT? He didn’t save us just because being enslaved to Satan is bad.

He saved us so that we could be free to serve Him.

Think about that the next time you think your freedom in Christ means you’re free to sit back and just bask in the afterglow of your salvation. No: You’re expected to labor in the kingdom of Christ. You’re called to serve in the ministry of Jesus. You’re called to fight in the army of the Lord.

He saved you for a purpose.
