So I read this blog

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/d-brief/2016/02/22/earth-is-a-1-in-700-quintillion-kind-of-place/#.Vs1fQJMrK1s

in which a bunch of scientists calculate the odds of a planet like earth existing. Obviously, since we’re here I’d say the odds are pretty good, but that’s not what it mean.

They mean “what are the odds that a planet could evolve after the big bang to have just the right kind of conditions in order for life to evolve into the intelligent life we have today?”

Their conclusion is that the odds are 1 in 700qt. What is “qt?” It is “quintillion.” Greater than million, billion, trillion, and quadrillion. And not just one in a quintillion but one in 700 quintillion. It’s an astronomical, unfathomable, unimaginable number. And those are the odds, according to science, for us to have evolved, post-Big Bang, into the people we are today. According to the so-called smart people of our world, the odds of us even being here are 1/700,000,000,000,000,000,000.

…or you could go with the “we were intelligently designed” argument? Those odds are a lot more realistic!
