Yes, you read the title correctly. You’re probably thinking “no, it is actually VERY easy to slip, especially when it’s so icy outside.”

But oh how wrong you are.

You see, unless you live in an igloo, you are unlikely to have ice on your living room floor. Probably there’s no ice in your bedroom or bathroom or kitchen either. Putting it simply: There’s no ice in your house.

So if you’re sitting there reading this from the comfort of your home, ask yourself: How easy is it to slip on ice?

“Not very easy” should be your answer.

But probably you still don’t know what I’m getting at. Probably you’re thinking “but it IS easy…all I have to do is get up, open the door, go outside and BAM! bruised bottom.”

And while that’s true, don’t you see what you’re saying. It’s only easy because you’re MAKING it easy. You’re choosing to put yourself in a position where you are likely to slip and fall. Why do this? Stay inside where there is no ice!

Why do people put themselves in positions to fall, spiritually? Wouldn’t we all be better off if we staying in the hollow of God’s hand and away from Satan? Listen to James:

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you…

James 4:7-8a

If we resist Satan he will run from us. How do we resist him? By drawing near (and staying near) to God.

Stay inside, where God’s protection is, and you’ll never have to worry about slipping and stumbling. Step away from God and mosey over to that temptation the devil left for you, and you’re sure to be staring up at the sky with an awful headache.
