Paul, in talking about our need to serve God and not sin, writes these words:

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Romans 6:16

In other words, it is up to each of us to choose whether we will live holy lives or wicked ones. We get to choose whether we live righteously or not. And keep in mind that there is no middle ground. A lot of people may not want to belong to Satan but they also aren’t willing to obey God. Yet, if you don’t obey God, you do belong to Satan.

Whatever you choose to do, you become a servant of that choice. If you choose to obey, you become a servant of God in righteousness. If you choose to sin, you become a servant of Satan in death.

Here’s the kicker: If you choose to obey God, you make the Lord happy and Satan frustrated. But if you choose to obey God, the oppisite is true. Though we don’t usually describe it like this, it is true: If you obey Satan, you’re not just making God sad, you’re also making Satan happy.

I don’t want to be responsible for anything that makes the enemy of God sing with joy! Yet every time I sin he does just that. Not only does God’s heart break, but Satan’s heart is elated.

It’s time stop making the Devil happy, and start disappointing him every day.

Serve God, and make Him happy.
