i'll be here1Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

As a preacher (despite not being very “young” anymore) the words of this verse are thoughts that I read often. I try my best to live up to the standard Paul places here.

I want to share with you my thoughts on what this verses is telling me.

Be an example in spirit. Our spirit is a reference to our inner man. The meaning is our attitude. What kind of people are we on the inside. We can fool some people some of the time as to who we “really” are, but God knows the truth. We must be careful that our spirits are pure. If they are, then our outward man will reflect that honestly. As a preacher I help set the tone for the worship. I need to be sure that my tone is a godly one.

Will you help me be an example in spirit? Help me to have a God-loving attitude and to show a Christ-like spirit to all that I meet. I promise to preach sermons that help you do that too!
