Here’s a small and encouraging thought for this Monday.

Isn’t it interesting that the same breath which God used to give life to Adam, is likewise put into His Holy Word, which gives eternal life to all who use it and apply it to their lives? After all, God breathed into Adam to give Him life (Genesis 2:7), and He also breathed into His Word, so that it may have life within its pages.

That’s what Paul tells Timothy…

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Timothy 3:16

The phrase “given by inspiration of God” literally means “breathed by God.” The same life-giving breath that was put into Adam’s physical body is put into the Word, to give spiritual life to us. The only way it can give us that life, however, is if we use it. If it sits on a shelf or collects dust on our church pew from Monday-Saturday, it’s no good to us. We’re spiritually suffocating when we should be breathing in the spiritual life-giving oxygen placed in the pages of Holy Writ.

Open that Bible. Study it. Breath in its words of life.
