My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not

1 John 2:1

What a sad statement this is. Coming near the end of the Bible, it throws you for a loop just as you’re about to finish the Book. I went and got my hopes up thinking this Christianity thing would be possible. But now I see I have no chance. After all these verses, chapters and books I was under the impression that there was a way of escape from my sin, but now I see that it’s up to me to just not do it. I mean that’s what John says: “sin not.” Well, easy for you to say, pal. It’s hard for me. I’m tempted every day. You can’t just say “hey don’t do that” and then offer me nothing else to help me. and if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

1 John 2:1

Oh.

Well this is good news.

Because, I don’t know about you, but I have definitely sinned once or twice (or…more) in my life. So this “and” that pops up halfway through the verse is a big load off. It’s nice to know that I may make a mistake, but Christ will be there to advocate on my behalf, to make things right between me and God.

What a blessing!
